Responsibilities:

  • Managing the design of the levels through the full cycle of production from conception to finalization – Ownership of the level
  • Conceptualizing, prototyping, building, scripting and tuning levels according to game vision
  • Maintaining and balancing the readability, difficulty and pacing of levels
  • Supporting the team with feedback on gameplay, shape and performance of all levels
  • Working closely with Lead Level Designer on level feedback to ensure best quality and game vision
  • Cooperating with the Game Design, Art, Narrative, VFX and Sound departments to ensure best quality of the levels
  • Anticipating, identifying and articulating problem areas and developing preventative solutions
  • Creating and maintaining clear level documentation
  • Creating combat encounters using the full potential of the enemy archetypes, leveraging on the main character varied combat capabilities and player strategies to generate engaging experiences

Requirements:

  • Min. 5 years of experience in Level Design position
  • Must have shipped a minimum of 2-3 titles (for PC and Consoles) as a Level Designer
  • Experience with visual scripting ( Unreal, CryEngine, Other)
  • Ability to manage time and work within deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Open and creative mind, interest in games within same spectrum (Action RPGs, Souls like genre)
  • Proficiency in English

  • Lead by example and set standard for the AI team in the pursuit of excellence.
  • The ability to implement the required AI solutions for the game, coping with the game design intentions and the technical requirements to secure performance.
  • Understanding of all AI systems to work with and discuss needs from other departments and participate on the generation of cost-effective pipelines.
  • Understand, plan and work on any required AI feature in coordination with the rest of the code team (engineers and gameplay programmers)

  • Work on backend for enemy and player skills, RPG systems, etc.
  • Work on specific tools requested by combat designers.
  • Make sure all features are networked.
  • Work on TRCs related to AI.

 Knowledge, Skills,and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as AI programmer
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Big plus if part of your experience was spent developing FPS Shooter / Tactical FPS games
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Experience building AI systems for several Unreal Engine PC/Console/Mobile games
  • Deep familiarity, experience and knowledge using Unreal Engine Blueprints and C++across the entire pipeline of 3D game development

As a Lead Level Designer, you are responsible for realising the design vision through engaging world maps, while maintaining your team’s morale and getting the best out of each Designer. On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Develop the Level Design vision together with the Creative Director and Executive Producer, and overseeing the implementation in-game, with the players experience at the centre
  • Developing and overseeing the rules and metrics for gameplay spaces
  • Defining and refining level layouts to create an extremely fun, satisfying, and polished level design flow
  • Ensure quality goals are met and are in line with the game vision

  • Work with level designers, level artists and engineers to bring 3D art into the engine within UE4’s toolsets, pipelines and best practices

  • Be the primary point of contact across the business for planning on all product release timelines, submission planning and executing successful business strategies on first party stores.
  • Maintain and champion a comprehensive Release Calendar to aid in cross-team and cross-org release communication.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of all products within First Party portals, from initial concept stage through to final release and post-launch support.

  • Carry out regular risk assessments at all stages of a product’s life-cycle in an effort to catch problems early.
  • Implement scalable processes to accommodate variable release size and complexity.
  • Maintain awareness of all team projects and major initiatives/goals.
  • Contribute to improvements with release procedures, to make them more efficient, scalable, consistent, visible and less error prone.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with first party contacts, keeping abreast of changes and understanding how these will affect the business.
